Meet Ashley Pruett, a certified occupational therapy assistant with a passion for helping neurodivergent individuals thrive.

With over 20 years of experience working with children, Ashley has served as a preschool instructor in multiple inclusive settings, provided respite care for medically complex and neurodivergent children both in-home and within the community, and acted as a direct academic support liaison for students across various school districts, helping them access and navigate virtual learning requirements throughout the pandemic.

For nearly over 5 years, Ashley worked with individuals with a wide range of disabilities in assisted living facilities, where she was dedicated to helping them achieve their fullest potential by providing direct support and overcoming individualized barriers.

Originally from Southern Indiana, Ashley moved to Virginia in 2015. She is a proud mother of two teenage sons.

Ashley’s approach to occupational therapy is centered on the belief that every child deserves to be understood and supported in a way that honors their individuality. She prioritizes connection over compliance, recognizing that meaningful progress happens when children feel safe, understood, and engaged. Ashley uses play as a primary tool for learning because it’s through play that children explore, express themselves, and build essential skills in a way that feels natural and enjoyable. Rooted in neuroaffirming practices, she strives to create an environment where each child’s unique strengths are recognized and nurtured, working closely with families to develop strategies that support their child’s growth and well-being in everyday life.

Ashley earned her Associate in Health Science from St. Catherine University in St. Paul, MN, and has experience in both school and home-based settings.

When she’s not at work, you’ll find her cheering on her sons at their football and basketball games or spending time with her beloved dog and cat. She loves animals, documentaries, and binge watching Grey’s Anatomy. Ashley looks forward to supporting children in meeting their goals and collaborating closely with families, caregivers, and other members of their team to ensure success.
